What is Thin Content?
Thin content are web pages with little to zero authentic, human written content. These pages may have a high word count, however lack substantial value to users.
Thin content with little to no additional value is a common reason why a website can get a manual action (penalty) from Google.
Many SEOs believe that thin content means a page with very little word count. However, thin content examples include:
- AI Content
- Thin affiliate pages
- Scraped content
- Doorway pages
The Google Panda update was the first major change to Google’s search results ranking algorithm targeting low-quality content, including thin content.
